As a part of our ongoing effort to bring about a positive impact on lives in Madurai, we are excited to share an inspiring story that exemplifies the generosity of our community. Recently, a gracious donor stepped forward to make a significant contribution aimed at benefiting the needy children and aged people residing in the city's orphanages and hostels.
Sevalaya Boys Hostel, situated in Alwarpuram and managed by the commendable Harijan Sevak Sangh, lodged a request for new plates, citing their existing ones as antiquated. The hostel houses students hailing from the rural villages surrounding Madurai. The majority of these children's parents earn their living through daily wage jobs, making it challenging to meet all of their children's needs. These diligent students pursue their academic dreams at the nearby Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School.
Responding to this need, our dedicated program officers, Ms. Subha and Ms. Subashree, efficiently utilized the donation received. They purchased 75 brand new plates worth Rs. 11,500, presenting them as a donation to the boys at the hostel. This act of kindness will not only enhance their daily meals but also foster a sense of dignity and well-being amongst the young residents.
