Shelter for Homeless Urban Poor is a home for children and aged people located in Gandhi Puram (near to Pudur) in Madurai. The home is run by Mother Teresa Education Trust. There are 30 persons staying in this home now. The home is very well maintained. Individuals and institutions can sponsor food, donate clothes and cooking essentials to the home. Home for Adolescent Teens with Mentally Retardation is a rehabilitation home for destitute children affected with mental retardation. This home is run by M. S. Chellamuthu Trust in Othakadai. There are 50 children and adolescents staying in this home. For more details- click here

Sevalaya Boys Hostel is located in Alwarpuram and is run by Harijan Sevak Sangh. Students staying here are from rural villages near Madurai. Mostly of their parents are working for daily wages. Majority of these students are studying in Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School which is very close to the home. For more details- click here

Home for The Persons with Mental Illness is a rescue and rehabilitation home of homeless persons with mental illness. The home is located in Thathaneri and is run by M. S. Chellamuthu Trust. 50 homeless persons with mental illness are staying in this home. For more details- click here

Aakaash is a completely free of charge special school for children with mental disabilities from the remote villages as a day care centre providing a spectrum of rehabilitation services for children (ages six years to fifteen years) with diverse conditions such as mental retardation, autism and Down’s syndrome. Angel Devagi Prabhakaran Old Age Home operates by Angel Devaki Prabhakaran Trust in Thiruvathavoor, Madurai, founded and managed by Mr. P. Prabhakaran.
